Composite can machine, paper can machine and production line

PAKEA manufactures complete composite can machines and lines and packaging systems to meet variety of needs, markets and production capacities, for primary or secondary packagings, and mainly includes:

  • the "composite can body" makers to produce round and non-round, semi-rigid to rigid, papercans and composite cans. Custom designed combinations of materials, with "anaconda" heat sealing for low to high barrier properties.
3 different systems using a laminating process, can be supplied:
    • spiral wound composite cans with spiral labels (only round shapes)
    • spiral wound composite cans with convolute labels (only round shapes)
    • linear formed SIRPAK composite cans (round and non-round shapes)
  • the convolute labellers/recutters to apply offset printed labels on round tubes and to cut them into individual composite cans.
  • different closing machines for bottom and/or top closures, for pre or post filling operations, including paper ends, plastic or metal lids, pealable or recessed alu-membranes, …
  • composite can conveying and buffering systems to link all these machines.
  • the new PRISMAPAK process, producing paper and plastic composite cans from pre printed and pre cut blanks

Our systems are precision machines designed for high speed, reliable manufacturing that is highly repeatable with low maintenance costs. A low scrap rate and quick size changeovers contribute to economical and flexible production.

PAKEA‘s program also includes complete lines to produce:

  • 2-body cheese boxes,
  • toys, pet food and detergent drums,
  • ice cream lids,
  • special mailing tubes with easy opening features,....

Round spiral wound composite can lines with spiral or convolute labelling

The round spiral wound composite can has traditionally provided economical and effective protection for a variety of food, chemical and industrial products.

PAKEA offers state of the art technology and equipment to produce round composite cans with glued or heat-sealed liners, spiral or convolute labels in either automatic or semi-automatic designs.

Several lines can be quoted:
  • For spiral wound composite cans with spiral labels:
    • the L 100 S line is our standard line producing round composite cans with spiral labelling with a capacity of up to 330 cans/min
    • the L 500 S line is our high speed line producing round composite cans with spiral labelling with a capacity of up to 700 cans/min
  • For spiral wound composite cans with parallel labels:
    • the L 153 PL line is our standard line producing round composite cans including our single mandrel convolute labeller / recutter with a capacity of up to 80 cans/min
    • the L 153 PR line is our high speed line producing round composite cans including our 4-mandrel convolute labeller / recutter with a capacity of up to 200 cans/min

(e.g. for cans dia. 99 mm, can height 150 mm)

Combinations of lines are also possible, for instance a line producing composite cans with spiral AND convolute labelling, for an even higher flexibility.

SIRPAK composite cans: round and non round shapes

Packaging provides product distinction in the market place. Non-round linear formed composite cans offer product uniqueness and differentiation, plus cubic efficiency to optimize storage and transportation.

PAKEA has designed the patented SIRPAK linear tube forming system to provide the advantages associated with the non-round shape, but also to achieve increased package rigidity, great hermeticity for better product protection, bigger "facing" for marketing purposes, high quality graphics, alternatives to round composite cans,...

For linear-formed composite cans according to the SIRPAK process,

  • the SIRPAK 200 ECOline is our standard line producing round and non-round composite cans with a capacity of up to 120 cans/min
  • the SIRPAK 200 is our high speed line producing round and non-round composite cans with a capacity of up to 300 cans/min

Composite can conveying and buffering systems

The conveying systems are linking the "composite can body" makers to the downstream machines to guarantee the automatic can feeding and accumulation and the production flow regulation.

PAKEA 's offer includes:

  • composite can extracting/turning over devices
  • composite can up-enders
  • composite can elevators
  • buffers for can accumulation (for round composite cans)
  • “first in- first out” buffers for round and non-round composite cans
  • turning tables
  • composite can height controlling equipment
  • waste ring selecting devices

PRISMAPAK: a FFS solution for your composite cans

The PRISMAPAK is an exclusive Form, Fill and Seal process developed by PAKEA to produce generic packagings, designed for numerous applications. It enables the users to produce themselves rigid, reclosable and hermetic containers at the filling plant.

This system is perfect for small and medium volumes, for secondary or possibly primary packaging (depending mainly on the type of product to be packed), for soft or semi-rigid composite cans, for low to semi barrier properties, various shapes, various closures, in paper or in plastic, for converters or in-house filling,…..In other words a very flexible process.

This PRISMAPAK line is mainly comprising following machines and options:

  • The machine to shape and seal (or glue) the composite can body from pre printed blanks and to insert a closure on one side of the composite can, with mainly 2 options:
    • The PRISMA F 50 FCS to insert and heat sealed a paper bottom, or
    • The PRISMA F 50 FCC to insert and glue a paper bottom
  • The machine to fill (filler not included) and to close the composite can, with mainly 2 options:
    • The PRISMA FS 50 CPC to insert and glue a plastic lid
    • The PRISMA FS 50 ALU-TOP to apply a pealable membrane on a curled composite can (curl made on the BEA 50/4 curling machine) and to apply a plastic over cap.
  • A conveying system linking all the machines.

PACKINA and MULTIPACK closing machines

Numerous closing systems with paper bottoms, recessed or pealable aluminium membranes, metal or plastic ends,….can be fitted on composite cans by seaming, gluing, pressure inserting, heat-sealing, .... PAKEA. can offer pre- or post- filled closing systems.

With the current concerns regarding recycling, we aim to impose a full-cardboard package. The paper bottom inserted and glued or heat-sealed is a very effective, efficient, economical and ecological solution.

The choice of the type of closure mainly depends on the product to be packed, as well as the ease of use features, the opening and re-opening ability, the required barrier properties, the requested functionalities (dosing, pouring,..), the budget, the environmental aspects, ....

Several closing options are available or to be developed.

BRIO labellers/recutters

Convolute labellers/recutters to apply offset-printed labels on paper tubes and to recut them into individual composite cans are also produced by PAKEA.

2 automatic and programmable versions can be quoted for:

  • 1-mandrel machine type BRIO 153/1, ideal for small and medium runs.
  • 4-mandrel revolver machine type BRIO 153/4, for the long runs.

For smaller capacities and budgets, semi-automatic versions are also part of the programme.
